In this workshop we will use practical examples to delve into discussion around musical dramaturgy, underscoring, song development and process, with time for some individual questions. This workshop is suitable for directors who are already making music theatre but also any theatre makers who are interested in using live music in their future work.
Phil Bateman is a musical supervisor, musical director and arranger. He was the original Music Supervisor/Arranger on the Olivier Award winning Our House (Cambridge) and was the Original MD on the multi award winning Billy Elliot the Musical (Victoria Place). Since then he has continued to specialise on new musicals and has worked with an eclectic array of composers and other artists. Currently he is Supervisor/Arranger on Get Up Stand Up (Lyric, Shaftesbury).
