In 2012 the JMK Trust began working with five regional venues around the UK, setting up on-going groups for theatre directors, to create development and training opportunities for those outside London.
This autumn our regional work has some important new developments.
We are launching our new regional assistant director bursary, funded for the coming three years by the Leverhulme Trust Arts Scholarships fund. This will enable one member of each of our regional groups to become a Leverhulme Arts Scholar and assist on a production at their local venue.
The Trust has been joined by director Lisa Spirling as our new Artistic Coordinator for the regional programme. She will be devising and delivering the work we do around the UK and managing the bursary scheme.
Some new organisations are joining us – West Yorkshire Playhouse, Mercury Theatre Colchester and Direct North in addition to our current partner venues Bristol Old Vic, Birmingham Rep, Northern Stage, Salisbury Playhouse and Traverse Theatre.
