Preparing to Direct withMiranda Cromwell |
“I have discovered over recent years that the more I prepare, the more free and collaborative I can be in the room.”
In this workshop you will cover: different ways of reading and preparing a script, looking at the text from multiple perspectives i.e. design, lighting, sound, music, movement, how you can schedule and plan your rehearsals to best suit your process and ensure you have enough time even when you don’t, how to organise and apply research so that it is practical and feeds directly into the work and ways to prepare the text to explore character in depth with actors. Miranda will take you through her process and share some of the mistakes she has learned from and tips she has collected along the way. There will be practical tasks and space for discussion and to ask questions.
This #JMKSpace event is open to all. It takes the place of our directors’ groups normally hosted by Reading Rep, Nuffield Southampton Theatres and Wiltshire Creative.
30 spaces are available.
The workshop will take place 2.00- 4.00 p.m on Friday 4th September on Zoom.
